November last year myself and five other friends jetted off to explore and experience Mexico and Cuba! Boy it didn’t disappoint. We ticked off Mexico City, Tulum, Havana and Trinidad just to name a few. I’ve listed some recommendations and travel details throughout the gallery but the overall piece is to share all the little but beautiful moments I had the opportunity of capturing whilst over there. In this 9 part series I’ll be introducing SHE CHOSE. A project encompassing 25 portraits accompanied by 9 unique stories exploring why we need to ensure that women today feel safe to exercise their right to equality, including access to emergency contraception and terminations, where so many women, past and present, have been denied this right and even criminalised for their choices. For women, freedom of choice over our bodies and reproductive rights is still just as important as ever - for past, current and future generations.

She Chose aims to open up a dialogue through visual storytelling about a topic where women in today’s society still feel shame in talking about.

My hope is that by reading these raw, brave and personal stories shared by these extraordinary women openly discussing abortion, emergency contraceptives and sexual, physical and mental health that we can all be open minded as a community and be reminded that every individual woman’s journey is her rightly her own.
