Behind the Lens - VAMFF, Melbourne

Last week the girls, Jacqui Toumbas, Kerrie Carucci and I popped down under to Melbourne for the week. Whilst Kerrie and I immersed ourselves in Virgin Australia’s Melbourne Fashion Festival, Jacqui had us covered on all the food fronts. Take a scroll through my visual diary of our trip with a few of our top recommendations on where to eat, drink and stay along the way!

Day 1

Once we had all checked into our Airbnb in Fitzroy (best location btw.. just saying!) we walked up the street for a belated breakfast/early lunch at Pony White in Fitzroy. We then headed out for a quick shop on Brunswick Street before heading back to get ready for our first show of the night! Post show I took the girls to my ABSOLUTE FAVOURITE bar in all of Melbourne - Geralds in Carlton. It’s small, intimate and unique and their food and wine is off the charts. We loved it so much we went back for dinner again on the Thursday night! Key note - their menu changes every single day and is hand written!

Kerrie and I had a ball at Show 1 which was presented by David Jones featuring some incredible designers like:

Aje Acler
Balenciaga
Balmain
Bec & Bridge
Calibre
Canali
Carla Zampatti
Chloe
Nanushka
Palm Angels
Dion Lee
Ganni
Toni Maticevski
Politix
Paul Smith
Rixo LONDON

Most people don’t know but I have a love and passion for fashion and find it to be a huge creative outlet for me! I’ve listed my outfit details for day 1 below throughout the gallery for those that may be interested!

Shoes - New season Zara

Glasses are Celine, pants are from The Frankie Shop, bodysuit is by Bras n Things and blazer is new season Zara

Day 2

Started off at Lou’s plant based cafe called ARLO located in Brighton where we had breakfast for the morning. Best house made bread I’ve ever eaten hands down! We then headed into Melbourne Emporium in the CBD to pop into Saba to pick up some of their new season collection and some hot new Manning Cartell. Post-shopping feels had us dining at Bar Carolina in South Yarra which had been recommended by a few people and it sure didn’t disappoint! All fuelled up for our second show - we made our way back and started prepping for the evening.

Dress is vintage, knit is new season Scanlan Theodore, earrings from Kathleen Kedwell Jewels and my shoes are from Tony Bianco.

Show 2 for the night was presented by Vogue, Australia and was incredible! Featuring designers such as Bassike, Bianca Spender, Lee Mathews, Oroton, Song For The Mute and White Story to list a few!

So many of you have asked me where my dress is from - I found this vintage bad boy from one of my favourite places to shop in Brisbane at Camphill Antique Centre! My knit is new season Scanlan Theodore, earrings from Kathleen Kedwell Jewels and my shoes are from Tony Bianco.

Day 3

This was our free day to spend together as a group with zero plans and no night show - we sat in my beloved cafe ‘Carolina’ located in Brunswick for half the day catching up on work and having some chill out time. Hot tip - this cafe gets the most INCREDIBLE morning light! Just going to leave that there!! Its worth the early morning wake up… just saying!

We then popped into DOC delicatessen on Lygon street and walked away with the most incredible goodies for our afternoon snack sash prepped by Jacqui of course. She managed to find Smoked Mozzarella… I’m still dreaming about it! Seriously.

Not mad about it, but after our afternoon content shoot we then ended up back at Geralds for a few rounds of margaritas and a new menu to test out for dinner. Incredible once again!

Day 4

I don’t know if my Friday morning has ever started better then walking 150m down the road and into the famously sought after Lune Croissanterie in Fitzroy for a fresh hot coffee and the most buttered up, mouth watering croissant you’ll ever have the chance to come across! With up to 10 flavours too choose from it’s really no surprise that Jacqui walked home $100 later with two boxes worth of croissants for the road haha!

We then checked out and into our amazing stay with Ovolo hotels in the #ovololaneways in their Terrace Suite! With skyline views she didn't disappoint - A bottle of bubbles cracked open later we started prepping for the last show of the week but unfortunately it ended up being cancelled due to the current COVID-19 crisis.

That did’t stop us from enjoying our view and heading out for one last dinner together at Longrain!

Adios Amigos! Hope you’ve enjoyed stepping behind my lens and find some our recommendations for your future trip to Melbs helpful! Any Q’s… leave them in the comments below and I’ll be sure to get back to you!
