A sneak peek at the photography gear you'll currently find in my kit!
So, although my kit might be small and mighty I find it does the job! I spent the afternoon unpacking and going through all my gear with you guys on instagram on Friday but thought I’d also list everything here with some links to the things I’ve accrued gear wise along the way in the product titles!
Pelican travel hard case - This has been an absolute god send for me over the last year and a half for many reasons. First of all, it has wheels - you know when a woman discovers a dress has a pockets… well that’s how buying one of these feels. When you spend a full day shooting, darting in between multiple locations, being able to take the stress off your body by whipping your case around you with everything in it feels like a bloody blessing. Secondly we all know camera equipment isn’t cheap and it’s an investment - so protecting it should be a number one priority, these hard cases come with all the special packing foam and adjustable compartments so you can arrange your kit to suit your needs. The hard casing also means that when I’m flying interstate I can throw that bad boy underneath and I’m good to go.
Canon 5D IV - My current camera body that you’ll find me running around shooting on. For a long time I’d been shooting on a cropped sensor camera. Made the leap to full frame and it blew my mind.
Canon 24-70mm - This lens is my absolute go to when I’m shooting - it very rarely gets taken off my camera body and I shoot everything from food and Bev to fashion and interiors with it. She’s an investment but a worthwhile one.
Sigma Art Series 35mm - You know those times when the lighting is really shitty and you wish you had a few more stops to work with, to let the light in. That’s what I generally use this little lens for. She shoots at an aperture of 1.4 which means that in low light situations she’s great at helping out - the only restrictions I find annoying would be, being a prime lens I only have the 35mm to work with.
Pelican memory card hard case - this little beauty is great for packing and tracking all your little memory cards that tend to get around and keep them well and truly protected, made from the same guys I have my hard case from, it’s water resistant and can store up to 12 memory cards at any one time. I’d like to say that I keep all mine in there at all times but you know…do as I say not as I do!
Lot’s and lot’s of camera batteries - I’m not going to lie… I’m a little lazy at recharging my batteries and tend to buy extras just as a plan B in dire situations haha but honestly these things, you really can’t have enough! Oh and I always have my charger in there of course!
Tethering cord - I have my ‘tethering tools’ tethering cord that I generally have on hand for when I’m shooting in the studio or need to see in more detail what I’m shooting!
Transmitter and receiver - I always have these on hand for when I’m shooting in the studio or with lighting.
Spare mixed batteries - On hand I’ll always have a mixed container of batteries for things like flashes or my transmitter and receiver - it’s always better to be safe than sorry!
Clamps - I always keep a few of these on hand, you can pick them up from Bunnings in a variety of sizes and are great when you have to work with backdrops or pin anything!
Reflector - although this doesn't fit in my kit, it comes with me everywhere, with 4 different sides to work with, it’s a must in tricky lighting situations or when you need to bounce a bit of light around.
Any Q’s leave them below and I’ll get back to you! Hope this helps!
